Mild pain medications can certainly reduce pain but alone cannot heal lumbar compression fracture. Lumbar compression fracture patients are required to modify their life style by imposing restrictions on their normal activities. As a part of treatment, doctor advices bed rest for initial few days but later patient must avoid all strenuous activities. The brace is a rigid mould that conforms tightly to patient’s body to limit spine related movements and may help reducing pain. Back brace treats lumber compression fracture by preventing forward bending, takes pressure off fractured vertebrae and save it from further collapse.
